Overview
Welcome! This guide walks you through powering on and initializing your Trezor hardware wallet, creating a secure recovery phrase, and preparing to use it safely. Follow each step carefully — the device is built to be simple while keeping your crypto secure.
Quick start — the essential steps
Unbox and inspect
Open the package and confirm the tamper-evident seals are intact. The box should contain your device, a USB cable, and recovery card(s). If anything looks tampered with, contact support immediately.
Connect to a computer
Use the supplied USB cable to connect Trezor to a trusted computer. The device powers on automatically and shows a welcome screen. Never connect to unknown USB chargers or public computers.
Open Trezor Suite or go to app.trezor.io
Visit the official site from your own browser or open the authenticated desktop app. The website will detect your device and guide you through setup. Only use official software links.
Initialize the device
Choose Create a new wallet (if your device is new) or Recover wallet (if you have an existing seed). The device will generate a recovery phrase inside its secure chip — it never leaves the device.
Write down your recovery phrase
The device displays a 12, 18, or 24-word recovery phrase (depending on model and settings). Write each word clearly on the provided recovery card. Store the card(s) in a safe, offline location — ideally in a fireproof safe or secure deposit box.
Set a PIN
Choose a PIN on the device. Use a length and pattern that you can remember but is hard for others to guess. The PIN protects the device if it is stolen; the recovery phrase is the ultimate backup.
Tips for safe setup

- Keep recovery words private; if you suspect exposure, initialize a new wallet and transfer funds to it.
